My current automobile is a Volkswagen Jetta, and it’s awesome. It’s a station wagon and a TDI, boasting a wallet friendly 48+ mpg!
I plan on using this page to help me keep track of what I’ve done with my car, what I plan to do, and what I want to do with it one day.
Completed Upgrades/Maintenance/Etc
- Debadging
- For a cleaner look, I removed the rear badging (except for the VW logo). This was easy to do using fishing line, a heat-gun/hair-dryer, fingernails, and ‘goop-off’.
- Window Tinting
- Very dark tint (0-3%) on the passenger & trunk windows, light tint (35%) on the front windows, and no tint on the windshield.
- Center Console Armrest Delete
- I found that the armrest between the front two seats was occasionaly getting the way of my arm when I would go to shift, this was simple to remove and the resulting hole was filled with an OEM console tray.
- A great guide to removing interior parts (such as the center console) can be found at the following link:

- Speakers & Receiver (Christmas 2009)
- Special thanks to my parents for an awesome Christmas present:
- New door speakers
- Pioneeer TS-A1683R 6.5 inch, 4 way speakers

- MAF Sensor Replacement
Planned Upgrades/Maintenance/Etc
- Foglights
- Off-road style lights on roof rack
- I want to wire these as clean, and as secure as possible. I need to do some research and figure out the best way to get the wires from the roof to inside the car without making holes or causing water leakage.
- Back-up light(s) (mounted on the roof rack)
“Wishlist” (Potential changes for the future)
- “Cleaning up the exterior”
- Rub-strip removal (seems to be highly involved, with body modification & repainting). If I were to damage the side of my car, and already require body work and a paint job, this might happen.
- Removal of the front VW logo (replacing the front grill and filling in the small hole left by the top of the logo) (To do this correctly will also require some body work and paint, I might wait for damage to the front or hood of the car to do this)
- Smoking & Tinting
- Replace the amber side reflectors with either clear or tinted reflectors.
- Subtle tinting of tail lights & potentially the headlights. (I need to see if there are any laws or regulations concerning the tinting of lights)
- Repainting the rear VW logo. I think that a very dark grey (near black) exterior (the circle, and VW part of the emblem) and an “Appalachian State University” gold inside would look great.
